Your whole crew on the same page, in Spanish, English or any language
Your milkers, feeders and calf crew send a voice note or text after each shift, in whatever language comes easiest. When your nutritionist or vet walks the pens, they leave a scored report in Rumi Walk instead of telling whoever happens to be standing there. You read it all, answer once, and your whole crew hears you in their own language.
Free pilot for dairies. iPhone, Android and WhatsApp.
Spanish, English, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Nepali, Ukrainian, Somali and more.
Ya arreglé la llanta del cargador. El frente del silo tiene moho en la orilla de arriba, como dos pies. Necesitamos más llantas para la cubierta del montón.
I fixed the loader tire. The silage face has mold on the top edge, about two feet. We need more tires for the pile cover.
Good work this week, everyone. Keep sending your reports at the end of each shift.
What Pedro gets, in Spanish:Buen trabajo esta semana a todos. Sigan mandando su reporte al final de cada turno.
The whole crew’s day, on one screen
The daily digest leads with what matters most today, then every open issue, worst first.
Who uses it
About half the hired hands on US dairies are immigrants, and the farms that hire them ship 79% of the country’s milk (Texas A&M study for the National Milk Producers Federation). When the person who spots a problem and the person who fixes it don’t share a language, things get missed.
Milkers, feeders and calf crew
They talk for a minute after the shift, in whatever language they’re comfortable in. A farm code and a PIN get them in, with no email or password, or they just use WhatsApp. When they’re not sure how to do something, they can ask Rumi in the app.
Rumi DailyManagers and herdsmen
Each day you see the problems from every shift, worst first, and who hasn’t checked in. Answer once and everyone gets it in their own language.
Rumi DailyOwners
See how the farm’s day went without driving out to the barn, including what got fixed and what’s still open from yesterday.
Rumi DailyMilk haulers
They send a voice note or message from their phone at pickup: a warm tank, a leaking valve, an icy lane. It lands in your digest, and you can answer in their language.
Rumi DailyFeed delivery drivers
They send a quick message when the load is in: how many tons, which bay, and anything wrong, like a wet floor. It lands in your digest, so you can tell your feeder before the next mix.
Rumi DailyNutritionists and consultants
Walk the pens and talk. You leave with a report that scores cud chewing, manure, TMR particle size, body condition and five more KPIs.
Rumi WalkVeterinarians
Record locomotion, metabolic cases and heat stress on the herd walk, add photos, and share a PDF the farm team can act on that day.
Rumi WalkHow a day runs with Rumi Daily
Nobody has to play interpreter.
- End of each shift
Workers report
A big microphone button and three prompts: what I did, problems I saw, what I need. They can also type it, add a photo, or send a WhatsApp voice note.
- Right away
Rumi sorts it
Rumi translates the report, splits it into work done, issues and needs, and marks how serious each issue is. The worker gets a quick confirmation.
- At the time you choose
You read the digest
The day’s headline first, then open issues, anything left over from yesterday, and suggested next steps.
- Same day
You answer once
Reply to one worker or the whole team, typed or spoken. Each person gets it in their own language and can have it read aloud.
Rumi Daily for the crew. Rumi Walk for the vets and nutritionists who walk the barn.
Rumi Daily
Shift reports in your own language
- Workers hold the microphone and talk, in any language. It works with no signal and sends later.
- Workers who don’t want another app can send a WhatsApp voice note instead.
- Issues come in worst first. Resolve or snooze them, and see what carried over.
- Answer in English and each worker reads or hears it in their own language.
- Ask Rumi things like “Who hasn’t reported this week?”
- Your crew can ask Rumi how to do a job, in their language, any time of day.
Rumi Walk
Walk, talk, get a report
- Say what you see pen by pen, and Rumi Walk turns it into scores.
- Nine dairy KPIs, including cud chewing, locomotion, body condition, manure and heat stress, each marked green, yellow or red.
- Records the whole walk with no signal and syncs when you’re back in range.
- Email the PDF to the manager, the owner or the rest of the advisory team.
- See whether locomotion or manure scores are moving from one walk to the next.
Advice from the barn walk, in your daily digest Coming soon
When your nutritionist or vet finishes a walk in Rumi Walk and taps send, a short summary shows up in your daily digest, next to what your own crew reported, in your farm’s language.
Rumi Walk
The nutritionist walks the fresh pen, scores it, and sends the report to the farm.
Rumi Daily
The manager sees it under its own heading, with the adviser’s name.
Cud chewing in the fresh pen was below target. Check for sorting at the bunk after the morning feeding.
What changes on the farm
You hear from the quiet ones
Every worker reports every shift, not just the ones who speak up. You see who checked in, and they hear back from you in their own language.
Problems reach you, worst first
A possible LDA, a broken scraper or wet hay shows up in your next digest, ranked by how serious it is. Your advisers’ scores sit right next to it instead of in a binder.
Your bilingual milker stays in the parlor
Nobody gets pulled off the job to interpret, and there are no clipboards to collect or notes to type up. Your reply reaches the whole crew at once.
Answers on the night shift
A new milker isn’t sure how to forestrip, or a feeder wants to know how to adjust the load when the silage is wet after a rain. They ask Rumi on their phone, in their own language, and get a plain answer. Anything about a sick cow still goes to you and the vet.
Common questions
What languages does Rumi Daily support?
Workers can report in Spanish, English or their own language. Rumi Daily detects the language, translates the report for the manager, and translates the manager’s reply back for each worker. The app’s buttons and menus are in English and Spanish.
Do workers need an email address or an app account?
No. A worker joins with the farm code, their name and a 4-digit PIN. Workers who’d rather not install anything can send their shift report as a WhatsApp voice note or message.
Does Rumi replace our herd management software?
No. Herd software keeps the records on each cow. Rumi records what your people saw, did and need each shift, and what your advisers found on their barn walks. It works beside the software you already use.
Does Rumi Walk work without cell signal in the barn?
Yes. Rumi Walk records your walk, photos and video with no signal at all and syncs when the phone is back online. Worker reports in Rumi Daily also wait on the phone and send themselves once there is a connection.
Can a vet or nutritionist share findings with the farm team?
Yes. A Rumi Walk report goes out as a PDF by email or through any app on the phone. Soon it will also send a short summary of each walk straight into the farm’s Rumi Daily digest.
Who sees worker reports, and how long are they kept?
The farm’s manager and owner see each report and the daily digest. Workers don’t see each other’s reports. Voice recordings and photos are deleted after 90 days; the written reports stay in the farm’s history. Every worker can read what’s kept on a screen in the app.
Which phones does Rumi work on?
Both apps run on iPhone and Android. Rumi Daily also works through WhatsApp, so a worker can report from any phone that has it.
What does Rumi cost?
Rumi Daily is free during the pilot. Rumi Walk is in beta and has a free plan that covers up to 50 walks a month while the beta runs.
Bring Rumi to your farm
Rumi Daily is in a free pilot and Rumi Walk is in beta, both with a small group of dairies. Tell us about your operation and we’ll get you set up on iPhone or Android.
